Capsule Filling Machine: Key Features, Components & Benefits
Updated: 2026-10-21 By Urban Machinery Category: Capsule Filling Machine
The capsule filling machine is a core piece of pharmaceutical packaging equipment. Our new-generation model is engineered for accuracy, efficiency and hygienic operation. It combines touch-screen control, a Siemens PLC, stepless variable-speed drive, and a fully automatic capsule sowing and locking system. Designed to replace manual filling, it reduces labor intensity, improves production efficiency, ensures precise dosing, and delivers a product qualification rate of up to 98%.
Key Features of the Capsule Filling Machine
Here are the main features that set our automatic capsule filling machine apart.
Touch-Screen Operation & PLC Control
The new model upgrades to a touch-screen operating interface. This makes operation more convenient, extends the service life of the whole machine, and gives it a more modern, high-end appearance. The machine uses mechanical and electrical integration control together with pneumatic control, and is equipped with a Siemens programmable logic controller (PLC) for reliable, repeatable automation.
Precision Capsule Sowing (Broadcasting) Mechanism
The capsule broadcasting section adopts the structure of a fully automatic capsule filling machine. This design enhances positioning precision and reduces friction, so capsules are handled gently and consistently before filling.
Flat-Mode Pneumatic Capsule Locking
The capsule locking section uses a flat-mode design and operates on pneumatic principles to achieve full automation. This effectively prevents powder settling during locking, improves product quality, and reduces the manpower required.
Stepless Variable-Speed Drive
A frequency-conversion stepless speed-regulating device allows the operator to adjust production speed smoothly across the full range, adapting the machine to different materials and filling requirements while maintaining consistent output quality.
Automatic Counting & Safety Shutdown
The mechanism is counted and controlled automatically by the PLC. When a mold is fully lined with capsules, the machine shuts down automatically; the operator can also stop the machine manually mid-cycle if required. Production speed is set digitally on the touch screen, and the current speed is displayed in real time.
Main Components of the Machine
The machine is composed of several key parts: a capsule sending and U-turn separation mechanism, a filling mechanism, a locking mechanism, a variable-frequency speed-regulating mechanism, a pneumatic and electric control system, a protection device, and a vacuum pump with its accessories.
Capsule Sowing Mechanism
This mechanism takes hollow empty capsules from the hopper and inserts them into the broadcasting tube. It is driven by a single frequency-conversion stepless speed-regulating motor that drives the cam rocker and ratchet mechanism. When the cam rotates one full circle, the ratchet propels the gear, pushing one row of capsules into the mold holes; at the same time, the cam drives the rocker through one working cycle.
As the broadcasting tube is driven by the eccentric wheel to the bottom, the clamp spring presses the broadcast capsule and places one row of capsules. When the broadcasting tube rises, the clamp spring immediately closes the tube. The capsules fall into the capsule comb, are pushed forward to the U-turn position, and are pressed downward, orienting the capsule body downward and the cap upward. Below the die, negative-pressure airflow suctions the capsules into the mold holes. Because the upper mold hole has a small step that stops the capsule cap in the upper mold, the capsule body continues to descend into the lower die hole under vacuum. In this way, the mechanism completes capsule discharge, U-turn and separation in a single automated sequence.
Filling Mechanism
The filling mechanism precisely doses and fills the separated capsule bodies with the required powder volume. Combined with PLC-controlled counting and the stepless drive, it ensures accurate, repeatable filling doses that meet pharmaceutical and health requirements.
Locking Mechanism
The locking mechanism closes each filled capsule using the flat-mode, pneumatically driven design. This step completes the filling cycle and secures the dosage, while the pneumatic actuation prevents powder disturbance and maintains product quality.
Variable-Frequency Speed-Regulating Mechanism
This mechanism drives the machine with smooth, adjustable speed, giving operators precise control over output while protecting components from mechanical shock.
Control Systems, Protection Devices & Vacuum Unit
An integrated pneumatic and electric control system coordinates every stage of operation, while protection devices safeguard the machine and the operator. A vacuum pump and its accessories supply the negative-pressure airflow used in the sowing and separation process.
Supported Capsule Sizes and Filling Capacity
The machine accepts both domestic and imported empty capsules. Depending on the capsule size, it places the following number of capsules per row and per batch:

Working principle:
The coating machine is mainly used in the pharmaceutical industry for the production of pills and tablets, and can also be used for the rolling, mixing and polishing of spherical or granular materials in the food, light industry and chemical industry. For example: chocolate polishing, wrapping peanuts, sugar, seasoning, manufacturing glutinous rice balls, pearl powder balls, rolling desiccant, production of chemical fillers, aluminum hydroxide balls, aluminum oxide balls, porcelain molecular sieve, catalyst. This machine is suitable for clinic, college laboratory, research institute, pharmacy and other chemical industry.
The pan body is rotated clockwise to make the sugar-coated tablets roll and slide in the pan, and the sugar-coated powder is evenly distributed on all the plain tablets by pouring the sugar-coated powder into the hand. The electric thermal blower attached with the machine can be heated by extending the outlet pipe into the ball. At the same time, the blower can pass hot air into the inner layer of the pan to remove the surface water of the tablets, so as to obtain the sugar-coated tablets with stiff cell.
Features:
1. The control system composed of PLC and HMI has reasonable design, flexible programming, can adapt to different pharmaceutical process needs, reliable work, stable performance, in line with GMP requirements.
2. Under the action of the streamline guide plate agitator, the plain sheet can be turned smoothly, exchanged frequently, and the plain sheet can be eliminated from the height and collision, and the debris and edge can be eliminated, and the yield can be improved. The narrow surface of the baffle avoids the adhesion of the dressing on its surface, saves the dressing and improves the quality of the drug.
3. Constant pressure variable peristaltic pump, cancel the return pipe. The rotation radius of the roller changes at any time with the change of pressure, and the output slurry and spray volume are automatically balanced, which stabilizes the atomization effect, simplifies the spray system, prevents the spray gun from clogging, saves the dressing, and is simple to clean and has no dead Angle.
4. Specially designed and manufactured spray gun for coating, uniform atomization, large spray surface, universal adjustable nozzle is not affected by the amount of loading; The spray gun plugs the cleaning mechanism, which can make the coating continuous, shorten the coating time and save the coating dressing.
The application of counting machine in the pharmaceutical industry is mainly reflected in the counting of capsules, tablets, particles, bottling, bagging process. This kind of equipment is not only suitable for pharmaceutical industry, but also widely used in hospitals, food and other industries, counting, bottling, bagging or canning solid articles with regular shape. counting machine is made of stainless steel and other high quality materials, has the characteristics of small size, light weight, low noise, accurate counting, easy operation and easy maintenance. The drug contact part is made of stainless steel, to ensure the cleanliness of the package, in accordance with GMP requirements, is an ideal special equipment for counting, bottling and bagging of drugs such as capsules, tablets and granules.
The counting granulator works by means of several pieces of electromagnetic vibration. when the bottle does not reach the feeding port, the plate does not rotate; when the bottle is placed at the feeding port, the motor drives the plate to rotate to make the drug enter the bottle automatically. It is convenient and quick to change the counting disk of different specifications and models, without any other adjustment. This kind of machine is the smallest, advanced, beautiful and economical counting bottling, bagging equipment in China at present.
